Functional, not generic
Each planet is read through its functional role for your Lagna using Laghu Parashari, then weighed against its dignity in your chart. The same gem helps one Lagna and complicates another. We compute which is which.
Classical Jyotish grounding
The nine-graha gemstone mapping is cited to Phaladeepika 2.29. Brihat Samhita Chapters 80-83 add quality observations for Diamond, Pearl, Ruby, and Emerald. Modern lab certification still decides identity and treatment.
Honest about duration, nothing to sell
What classical texts actually say about how long to wear a stone, including why the 7-to-8-year replacement cycle has no classical basis. SahiKundli does not sell gemstones or earn vendor commission.

A gemstone prescription opens a second decision: what should you actually buy? SahiRatna now gives the buyer vocabulary for the stone it recommends, so you are not left alone with seller labels, premium-origin claims, or confusing ratti options.
For Pearl, it explains lustre, nacre, South Sea, Keshi, bead-cultured, non-bead cultured, and why opaque is normal. For Ruby and Sapphire, it explains heat, glass filling, diffusion, cracks, and synthetic risk. For Emerald, it explains oiling and resin. For Coral, it explains dyed and composite substitutes. For Cat's Eye, it explains chrysoberyl and the sharp moving eye.
Size is a band. Quality decides inside the band.
Classical texts identify which gem belongs to which planet. They do not give a body-weight formula or exact ratti dose. So SahiRatna gives a practical buying band and then tells you what quality checks matter for that stone.
The rule is simple: do not buy a larger weak stone just because the number is bigger. Stay inside the report band and choose the cleaner, natural, untreated, properly certified stone your budget allows.
Classical quality and modern proof do different jobs.
Brihat Samhita describes visible qualities such as lustre, brightness, sound form, scratches, dullness, bubbles, and split points. SahiRatna uses these as historical quality vocabulary where the text is specific.
A classical description cannot tell you whether a modern stone is synthetic, heated, filled, dyed, coated, or lab-grown. For that, insist on an independent gemological certificate and clear treatment disclosure.

Ratti ↔ Carat converter
Use the seller’s certificate without guessing.
Ratti is the traditional Indian market unit for gemstones. Carat is the modern weight unit used on lab certificates. SahiRatna uses the common trade conversion: 1 ratti ≈ 0.91 carat.
This is a buying conversion, not a new astrology rule. Stay inside the report band and choose the cleaner certified stone.

Judge Pearl by lustre, surface, nacre, treatment, and certificate. Opaque is normal. South Sea is the practical round choice. Keshi can be irregular but may be solid nacre when certified.

Colour matters, but treatment matters just as much. A heated Ruby can still be real; a lead-glass-filled or synthetic stone is not the same prescription.

Emeralds often have internal features. The key question is how much oiling, resin, or filling is present, and whether the certificate states it clearly.

Diamond is the classical first Venus stone. Ask natural versus lab-grown, check the 4Cs, and do not accept a vague certificate for a serious prescription.
