SahiMeter
Reports that use SahiMeter open with two separate checks: what your current period supports, and how strong the natal foundation is for that area of life.
SahiMeter is not a summary written after the report. Both scores are computed from the chart first. Every section must then respect them. A difficult score cannot be softened into false optimism. A strong score cannot be ignored to make the reading sound dramatic.
The two scores answer different questions. Period Support asks how supportive the running Mahadasha and Antardasha are. It is the same across career, money, relationship, and health for the same chart and period. Foundation asks how strongly the natal chart supports one area of life. It changes by domain because different houses and planets govern each area.
Period Support
Period Support is a deterministic index of how much the running Mahadasha and Antardasha are supported by functional lordship (Laghu Parashari Ch.5), planetary dignity, combustion, the debilitation–retrograde correction, and house placement — not a complete prediction of dasha results. Each dasha lord is scored on its own, then the two are blended.
1. Functional lordship (the base band)
Laghu Parashari classifies each planet as functionally supportive or challenging for a given rising sign, by the houses it rules. That classification sets each lord’s starting value: yogakaraka 8.0, auspicious 7.0, lagna lord 6.5, neutral 5.0, inauspicious 2.5 (an unclassified planet starts at 5.0).
2. Dignity, combustion & placement (the condition adjustment)
A bounded adjustment of at most ±2 points then tunes the band for the planet’s actual state in your chart: exaltation adds up to a point and debilitation subtracts one; combustion subtracts half a point; debilitation combined with retrograde motion adds half a point back — the classical neecha-bhanga correction; and a supportive house placement (1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10) adds half a point while a difficult house (6, 8, 12) subtracts one. Each lord’s result is held within 1–10.
3. Mahadasha / Antardasha blend & sambandha
The Mahadasha lord carries 60% of the score and the Antardasha lord 40%, reflecting that the major period sets the character while the sub-period modifies it. A small bonus of half a point is added when the two lords form a Kendra–Trikona pairing and actually connect — by conjunction, mutual aspect, or sign exchange (sambandha). The blended value is rounded half-up to a whole number from 1 to 10.
4. Rahu and Ketu
Laghu Parashari assigns the lunar nodes no house lordship, so a Rahu or Ketu period is scored indirectly — through the planet that rules the sign it occupies — then pulled halfway back toward neutral and held within a deliberately cautious 3–7 range. We never cite Laghu Parashari directly for a node.
Period Support is domain-neutral: it describes the running period from the chart’s own structure, so the same dasha scores the same whether the reading is about career, money, relationship, or health. What differs by domain is the separate natal Foundation score.
Natal Foundation
Foundation starts with Shadbala, the classical six-part measure of planetary strength. We compute positional, directional, temporal, motional, inherent, and aspectual strength for the seven classical planets. Rahu and Ketu are not given Shadbala in this calculation.
The classical minimum is different for each planet. Mercury, for example, has a higher minimum than Mars. So we do not compare their raw totals. We divide each planet’s Shadbala total by its own classical minimum, then combine those ratios for the area being read.
The house lord carries full weight. Natural karakas carry half weight. Supporting house lords carry quarter weight. This follows the classical order of analysis; the numerical weights are SahiKundli’s disclosed way of applying that order. If the same planet appears in more than one role, it is counted once at its highest weight.

The final 1–10 bands are a SahiKundli design choice, not a classical shloka. A score of 6 begins at the classical minimum. A score of 5 is near that minimum but still below it. Higher scores show how far the weighted foundation stands above the relevant planetary minimums.
Period Support labels
What the score does not claim
SahiMeter does not predict a particular event. Period Support describes the running dasha. Foundation describes natal strength in one area of life. Neither score assigns blame or decides what must happen.
A 3 out of 10 Challenging period is something to understand and work with. The classical supports the reading recommends — mantras, fasting days, behavioral direction — exist in the tradition precisely because the tradition holds that outcomes can be influenced by conscious action. The score describes the terrain; it does not determine what you do with it.
Neither score is a life verdict. Period Support changes as the dasha changes. Foundation is a natal measure for one domain, not a judgment on the whole chart or the person.
